About Hopscotch

Hopscotch is one of India’s most significant online kids’ fashion brands that amalgamates imagination and style to bring forth the most unique, chic, and playful clothes for children. Established in 2012, Hopscotch offers 10,000+ SKUs across multiple categories, approximately 20X higher styles than an average brand in India. Hopscotch has everything from bedtime to playtime, infancy to childhood, and everything in between. The decade-old company takes great pride in crafting the most fun-loving and free-spirited styles that delight not just the eyes but the child’s skin as well.

The Problem Statement

With Hopscotch’s strategic position in the market as one of the leading Indian kid’s clothing brands came many challenges. While many of them were competitive challenges, some pertained to offering a seamless shopping experience to customers and installing trust.

This comes from the fact that Indians are still getting used to shopping from D2C websites. They’re fearful of their shipment and prepaid orders. This was precisely the same mindset that Hopscotch was facing with its customers.

The brand witnessed that while people recognised it as the best in the market for shopping for kid’s clothes, they hesitated to place prepaid orders.

It also saw that a lot of traffic was either dropping off or placing cash-on-delivery (COD) orders. And, a major chunk of these COD orders resulted in return-to-origins (RTOs) and further caused profit leakage.

Hopscotch needed a solution to reduce these incremental COD orders and resulting RTOs to keep business profits intact.

The GoKwik Solution

Upon carefully studying Hopscotch’s issues, the GoKwik team suggested the kid’s clothing brand to immediately implement GoKwik’s RTO Protection Suite.

RTO Protection Suite powered by GoKwik is a combination of efforts backed by artificial intelligence and machine learning. It enables brands to identify the buying intent of shoppers and keep them from continuously misusing the online shopping privileges.

With the RTO Protection Suite in place, Hopscotch was able to,

  • Analyse the behaviour of the incoming website traffic and the buying history of shoppers based on
    • 200+ parameters
    • GoKwik’s network intelligence
    • Data based of 100 million+ unique online shoppers
  • Filter shoppers based on their likelihood of placing COD orders and cancelling them before delivery
  • Classify shoppers as high-risk, mid-risk, or low-risk buyers, with high-risk being the ones that showcase the least buying intent.
  • Identify problematic pin codes that add to the brand’s RTO%
  • Identify products with high COD RTO% and implement interventions to reduce the risk of high COD RTO%
  • Place other necessary interventions across the three buckets during order placement, such as, hiding COD as a payment option for high-risk shoppers, etc.

Besides these, the GoKwik team took an additional step to assess Hopscotch’s business performance using its advanced analytics. It found that certain pin codes were exhibiting high percentages of return-to-origins. They were not only causing inventory blockage but were leaking business profits. The GoKwik team immediately implemented strategic interventions to eradicate these irregularities, mitigate the losses, and keep Hopscotch’s conversion rate intact.

The Result

With all the necessary interventions in place, the Hopscotch team witnessed the following results.

  • Using GoKwik intelligence, Hopscotch was able to increase pin code serviceability by 26%
  • Reduction in COD RTO orders by 12.6%
  • Identification of numerous fake orders, helping Hopscotch save a significant amount of daily losses
